One would have suspected that Jose Mourinho could only be happy with tonight's 2-0 defeat of Bournemouth.
Having made seven changes ahead of tonight's tie, much attention went toward the performance of Paul Pogba; BT went as far as naming him tonight's man of the match.
With much speculation surrounding who will play for United in their upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho suggested in his post-match comments that each of the 11 starters against Bournemouth put themselves into the frame.
Directed toward the issue of his most-talked about player Pogba, Mourinho was erring once again toward offering the French midfielder plaudits.
I'm not very good on the man of the match, especially because I am the team manager, I am not a big fan of it.
But, he played very well. I would say against Manchester City he was phenomenal ... but today he was very, very good.
So I would say, good choice.
A relationship that will continue to be probed from the outside, for now, things seem friendly, at least.
