Not for the first time this season, Jose Mourinho expressed a belief that there is a campaign against Chelsea.
This time though, he picked out one individual in particular who he believes is waging this campaign. Although he did not name names, it seems Jamie Redknapp was the focus of his comments.
Working as analyst on Sky Sports for Chelsea's 1-0 win over Liverpool in the League Cup semi-final, Redknapp said that Diego Costa should have been sent off for a stamp on Emre Can.
Asked about the incident, Mourinho replied:
I don’t know what you understand by a stamp. Maybe you are already influenced by the campaign on the television with the certain pundits saying that Costa has crimes – they must be nuts the guy who says that. I saw the incident and about the penalty I didn’t speak. If I comment about that I will be in trouble.
Sky calls it a crime, I have to say that it was absolutely accidental. He goes to the ball, he chases it, the opponent goes to the floor and he puts his foot there when he is looking at the ball.
Pressed to identify the pundit, Mourinho said he did not know his name as he switches off the TV whenever he appears.
Forget it. Let's go to Wembley. Come on. I don't know his name, because when I see him I switch off the television.
