Balls caught up with Jordan Henderson who was speaking at an EA SPORTS™ FIFA 14 preview event this week to get his take on Suarez, the new season and Niall Quinn's Disco Pants.
Starting with the big news of the day, it seems like Luis Suarez is going to stay at Liverpool, how much of a boost is this to Liverpool's chances of getting into the top four?
Obviously, if that is true it's brilliant news for the club, and for us as a team because he's a massive player and obviously we want to keep our big players at the club.
Has the hype around Suarez taken away from Liverpool's pre season?
I don't think it's affected the squad at all, pre season been's brilliant, we've had some great games and we've been improving over the last couple of months, everyone's looking forward to the game on Saturday, just can't wait to get started really.
What are your hopes for the season ahead, where do you think you can finish?
I think its hard to say at the minute, we finished quite strong last year. We want to have a good start and build some momentum. If we keep going the way we have been you never know where we can finish. We'll try and finish as high as we can and obviously look to try and get that Champions League spot.
And for yourself, how was it captaining Liverpool for the first time last week?
It was a good feeling obviously, even though it was a friendly and a lot of the lads didn't play in it. But at the same time it was a great great feeling to lead the lads out for Liverpool for the first time.
How have you found the transition from working with Kenny Dalglish to Brendan Rodgers?
I've got to thank Kenny for when I first came and I still have to thank him really for bringing me to the club. Now that Brendan's in he's been brilliant in terms of my development and helping us go forward and by changing my game a little bit and being more tactically aware, the gaffer's brilliant in doing that and hopefully I can keep improving and getting better.
You began your first team career under Roy Keane at Sunderland. What was he like to play under?
Roy gave me my debut when I was at Sunderland and I learned a lot from the time he was at Sunderland. It was fantastic playing under Roy, he was a fantastic player and obviously a great manager as well.
Another Sunderland Irish legend that we all love here is, Niall Quinn, did you ever sing Niall Quinn's Disco Pants?
I probably did when I was younger. Niall was brilliant when I was at Sunderland and I still speak to him from time to time.
Moving on from one icon to another, we found a picture of you at a Justin Bieber concert in February, would you call yourself a Belieber?
That wasn't me ... no I promised by sister I would take her, so I had to go.
Do you have any of his singles in your collection?
I might have one or two.
We were looking at your attributes on FIFA 13, it says that your best attribute is Jumping. When did you first realise that you were terrific at jumping?
I'm not sure, I didn't know that.
