Just five months after getting a new deal with Brentford, Jonathan Douglas has reportedly been told that he can leave the London club.

The Monaghan man, who penned the new contract in February to keep him at Griffin Park until 2016, played 46 games for the club last season and scored eight goals. He was been with Brentford since 2011.

According to GetWestLondon.co.uk, Douglas has 'fallen out with the club hierarchy' over differences in opinion regarding its future.

Douglas was apparently close with Mark Warburton, the manager who led Brentford to a playoff place in the Championship last season.

Warburton has since been replaced by Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen, who was with Eredivisie side Excelsior most recently.

The 33-year-old has played eight times for Ireland.
