Republic of Ireland international striker Jon Walters had a very busy transfer deadline day but ultimately had to settle for staying put at Stoke City.
Walters had voiced his unhappiness with the new deal that Stoke had offered him, and yesterday had handed in a transfer request, but despite links to Norwich and Leicester he was unable to secure a move way from the Britannia Stadium.
Rather than publicly lash out at his employers like Saido Berahino, Walters looked on the funny side and apologised to Louis Van Gaal for not getting a deal done in time.
Helicopter away for the year ? sorry LVG it's not happening ?

Splendid use of the helicopter emoji.
It remains to be seen what will become of Walters going forward, as although it was clear that he wanted to leave the club, he chose not to burn his bridges in the fashion of young Berahino:
Sad how i cant say exactly how the club has treated me but i can officially say i will never play Jeremy Peace.

Hopefully Walters can work his way back into contention, because the last thing Ireland need is more strikers not getting playing time in the Premier League.
