On the latest episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast, the Stoke forward was discussing the topics of cars, and regaled listeners of a prank on Michael Owen when the forward was still at the club:

I remember when Michael Owen was at Stoke, we were staying at a hotel. Someone had wrapped his entire car in eggs and flour. No one knew who it was for months and everyone was trying to get to the bottom of it. He was fuming, he actually left at the end of the season.

Crouch went on to reveal that messrs Jonathan Walters and Robert Huth were the miscreants behind the prank, with the pair informing the rest of the team of their shenanigans when Owen left the club that summer:

And we got a picture, I think Jon Walters and Robert Huth were at a wedding, and they both just sent a picture to the lads group of them both doing that, 'it was us!'. Fingers in the air announced 'it was us'.

Obviously the incident was not the catalyst for Owen's departure from Stoke, with the bulk of the blame going towards Tony Pulis' training methods, with Owen stating Pulis' drills were 'mind-numbing' and that his stint at the club 'finished him off' as a footballer.
