Just last week, it once again seemed that Jon Walters could be about to depart Stoke in the coming months.
Contract talks had stalled, just like during the summer - when Walters handed in a transfer request - it was again due to disagreement over the length of his contract.
Mark Hughes did say however that he held out hope of 'common ground' being found between the parties. That kernel of hope has borne fruit with a two-and-a-half year contract for Walters being announced by the club today.

The 32-year-old has made nine appearances for Stoke this season, scoring four goals.
