Ireland turned in one of their worst 45 minutes under Martin O'Neill int he first half of today's World Cup qualifier against Austria, and went in a goal down. The second half, however, improved, as Austria withdrew and Ireland finally decided to turn up. The second half was marked with a succession of flurries in the Austria penalty area, with Irish players failing to react in time to divert the ball in.
Thankfully, that changed in the 86th minute: a long hoof forward by Robbie Brady fooled the Austrian defence, with Jon Walters profiting. He barged the defender out of the way, and volleyd the ball home from the edge of the box.
Miraculous stuff.
