John Terry has had to post a video on his Instagram account defending an Instagram story he posted earlier today, which some people have deemed sexist.
Terry posted a photo of the Portugal Morocco match with the caption "Having to watch this game with no volume", which some people read as a thinly veiled dig at Vicki Sparks, who became the first woman to commentate on a World Cup game for UK TV, and was commentating on that match:
Vicki Sparks became first woman to commentate on a World Cup game for UK TV when calling Portgual/Morocco earlier on BBC. This was John Terry's reaction on Instagram. Charmer. pic.twitter.com/Pd2TmXa7Jm

The 37-year-old has since come out and tried to explain the situation, stating that the caption references the fact that he could not get any audio from his television:
I just wanted to address an Instagram story that I posted earlier today that I have since deleted. I came home from holiday at the Maldives today around two o'clock, to find there's no audio in the house working whatsoever.
Since then they've been able to fix it, so everything's working again now but I was watching the game with no volume simply, posted that on my social media and people have run away and kind of made up their own stories and run with it and it's gathered a bit of momentum on social media and also in the newspapers as well. Just wanted to clarify, completely untrue and simply not the case so I hope that clears up the matter and we can move forward from there.

This seems to be a case of John Terry's reputation catching up with him, but it looks like the former Chelsea captain may be the victim here.
