Often when the so-called "bigger" teams are playing, the majority of the coverage and analysis will be centred around the side at the higher end of the league. This is no different in the League of Ireland and Sligo Rovers manager John Russell's patience is beginning to run out.

Sligo currently sit in 5th place and only two points off reigning Champions Shamrock Rovers in 3rd. It's been a remarkable season for the Bit O’Red as they were tipped for relegation before a ball was kicked in February.

Understandably, manager Russell is frustrated with the lack of coverage his side has received off the back of some brilliant results throughout this season's campaign.

John Russell Unimpressed With Sligo's TV Coverage

The former Sligo Rovers midfielder explained how he felt his side is often overlooked when it comes to playing the higher-profile teams. His comments came after Friday night’s 0-0 draw with league leaders Shelbourne in Tolka Park, with the game televised live on Virgin Media.

Sometimes you’re listening to the commentary and you’re thinking ‘are they actually watching the game or is it just a set thing that they’re going to say before hand?’

Then you go and play Shamrock Rovers up in Tallaght and they’re talking about curry cheese chips in the game, they get the names of the players wrong. It’s embarrassing. These people are getting paid money and they can’t even get the names right, never mind talk about what’s happening on the pitch

With only five league games to go, the destination of this year's title is still unknown with Shelbourne, Derry City and Shamrock Rovers all dropping points on Friday night in a huge evening in the title race.
