Offaly Gaelic football manager John Maughan has come for heavy criticism at a recent county board meeting.

Per the Midlands Tribune, Kilclonfert delegate Brendan Spillane was critical of Maughan after he allegedly told their player, Cathal Mangan, he was not to play in their club Division 4 Football League final against Rhode.

"It was not fair to him or the other players. He was told he would not be picked if he played” Spillane said.

County board chairman Tommy Byrne did stat he would deal with the issue with the manager and said they would try and resolve it come championship.

Maughan is in his first year with the county after landing the role last August.

Offaly currently have one point from their Allianz League Division 3 campaign as they continue to await their first win. They were beaten 2-08 to 2-10 by Louth last weekend.
