Celtic legend John Hartson has sent a powerful message of support to Leigh Griffiths. It was confirmed this week that Griffiths is taking a break from football to deal with personal issues, with Brendan Rodgers pledging that the club will offer Griffiths all the help he needs.
At last night's Europa League game against RB Salzburg, Celtic fans held aloft a banner in support of Griffiths that read, 'It's ok not to be ok; You'll Never Walk Alone Leigh".
Speaking on BT Sport ahead of the game, Hartson also sent his message of support to Griffiths.
The first stage with Leigh is that he the admittance that he has a few issues to deal with on a personal level, off the field. Celtic are prepared to help him. We all want to see Leigh back here at Celtic Park scoring goals, being the player we know he can be.
This is not about Leigh Griffiths the footballer. This is about Leigh Griffiths. He needs to find that balance, that happiness in his life. This is for the rest of his life, it's not just about getting him back on the pitch.
Leigh needs to deal with his issues, and he is doing that. He will have the support of the football world and particularly Celtic, so we all wish him well of course.
Celtic were fortunate to progress to the last-32 of the Europa League - in spite of a 1-0 defeat to Salzburg, a late goal from Rosenborg against Leipzig allowed them to squeeze through.
