RTÉ to TV3, it's like the moving from Liverpool to Man United. Okay, perhaps that's going a bit overboard but feck it will string that narrative along anyway. After his much publicised fall out with RTÉ, it seems John Giles is on the look out for a new job and he might just find it with TV3.
A report in the Irish Daily Star today suggests that the station are looking at expanding their football punditry team and Giles is high on the shortlist. A spokesperson for the station refused to confirm that talks had already taken place, but the possibility was certainly left open.
As you would have seen, we are always bringing new talent into the mix, recently Gaizka Mendieta and Luis Garcia, so you never know.
The 74 year old told Off The Ball that he was not happy with his absence from the RTÉ panel for the Scotland game. Giles revealed that he had a contract until August but that his quota of matches had already been filled. That led many to speculate that we may not see Giles deliver his punditry on Irish television again.
However, it looks very possible that may not be the case. The only difference being that it will be TV3 rather than RTÉ where we see him.
