Mario Balotelli joining Liverpool is happening but John Giles can't quite believe that Brendan Rodgers actually wants him at Anfield. He also thinks that Rodgers should take some pretty drastic action if he does not want the Italian at the club, that being quitting as manager.
Writing in The Herald, Giles said:
First and foremost, I cannot believe that Brendan Rodgers made the decision. A few weeks ago, Rodgers stated very clearly what he felt about the idea. If he doesn't want him, he should walk away.
Speaking on Newstalk's Off the Ball on Thursday night, Giles speculated that Rodgers was not really in charge of the buying and selling of players at Liverpool. He also said that he "wouldn't take him [Balotelli] for nothing."
According to The Guardian today, Liverpool's contract offer to the striker will feature "clauses on conduct and behaviour that exceed standard practice" the inclusion of which has been stipulated by the manager.
