John Egan is currently without a club, after his six year spell with Sheffield United came to an end earlier this summer.
The Corkman joined the Blades in 2018 and was instrumental in their rise to the Premier League during his first season with the club. Egan remained a core part of the team for their two-year stint in the Premier League, and continued as a first-team regular as they fought their way back into the top flight in May 2023.
However, an injury last September saw Egan sidelined for the entire campaign - he is yet to play a game since.
With the 31-year-old's contract expiring at the end of last season, Sheffield United opted not to renew Egan's contract, leaving him on the hunt for a new club.
Reports in the UK may present a hint as to where his next destination may be, with Egan currently training with Championship side Burnley.

John Egan reportedly training with Burnley in search for new club
Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider reported on Thursday afternoon that John Egan is currently training with Scott Parker's Burnley side as he returns to full fitness.
Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last season, with manager Vincent Kompany departing to take over at Bayern Munich. The Football Insider report now suggests that Kompany's successor Scott Parker is weighing up a move for John Egan to shore up their defence.
Egan has earned 36 caps for Ireland since making his debut under Martin O'Neill in 2017 and has captained his country on several occasions in recent years. However, he has not played for Ireland since the qualifier defeat to the Netherlands last September.
For incoming boss Heimir Hallgrímsson, a fully fit and match-sharp John Egan will significantly elevate the level of his team.
On Wednesday afternoon, O'Rourke also reported that Egan's Ireland teammate Mikey Johnston was also being considered by the Clarets, with the Celtic winger's future uncertain.
Another Irishman currently on the books at Burnley is Dara O'Shea, and the Dubliner has been linked with a move away from Turf Moor. Persistent reports have suggested O'Shea could end up at either Brentford or Celtic, while Premier League side Wolves entered the fray this week.
It could be a case of "sliding doors" for Irish centre backs at Burnley, with Dara O'Shea exiting and John Egan coming in as his replacement.
