Leeds are said to be contemplating a move for John Egan before the transfer window closes on Thursday night.
The Ireland international is currently flying high with Sheffield United in the Championship. They hold a one point lead over Norwich at the top of the table.
Egan has played every minute for Sheffield United so far this season. They've gone unbeaten in the league since losing to Watford in their opening game. Last season, he featured in all 46 Championship games for the club as they reached the playoff semi-final.
Leeds 'considering tabling an offer' for John Egan
The Express report that Leeds are "considering tabling an offer" for the 29-year-old centre-back. Asked about the club's intentions in the transfer market, Leeds manager Jesse Marsch said earlier this week, "I think we're still remaining optimistic and active".
Given how well the team is playing, and how important he is to the club, it would seem unlikely that Sheffield United would part easily with Egan so late in the transfer window.
Were he to join Leeds, it would a return to the Premier League for Egan for the first time since he played in English football's top tier with Sheffield United in the 2020/21 season.
The Corkman joined Sheffield United from Brentford in the summer of 2018. He signed a new four-year deal with the club in 2020.
Leeds are currently fifth in the Premier League with eight points from five games.
