John Egan had an unbelievable first season in the Premier League. He was amongst the finest centre backs in the division, winning no shortage of plaudits as Sheffield united secured a hugely impressive ninth-placed finish.
A number of players in the Sheffield United squad have been rewarded with new contracts after their form over the last 12 months, including Enda Stevens and David McGodlrick.
John Egan has now followed suit, penning a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2024. The club announced the deal on their Twitter page, accompanied by a cracking video.
The clip shows a number of Egan's biggest contributions in a Sheffield United jersey, overlaying them with some brilliant GAA commentary from Micheál O'Hehir captured during his father John Egan Senior's playing days with the Kerry footballers.

Brilliant.
Egan's GAA roots have been spoken about plenty over the last 12 months or so, with the player himself crediting his goal against Burnley to skills learned during his days playing Gaelic football.
After making huge strides in his career during the 19/20 season, he will be hoping to kick on over the next year or so. He is now a key member of the Irish international team and will be eyeing at next summer's Euros.
At club level, Sheffield United will be hoping to defy expectations by pushing even further up the table next season.
