The proper journalists at the Irish Times have obtained the accounts of the FAI and the facts, while many were known, still make for sad reading for anyone hoping for a revolution in Irish football.
The facts, as Ciaran Hancock reports, are as follows:
- Delaney makes €400,000 per annum. We all knew this. This is twice the Taoiseach's salary.
- Delaney actually took a 7.2% pay cut,. His previous salary was €431,687.
- Overall, the FAI itself has cut wages by 13.5%
- The FAI cut grants to clubs and leagues around Ireland by €377,000 last year.
- The FAI's interest bill is now €4.8 million.
- The FAI's debt on the AViva is €64.3million. Last year it was €67.2 million.
