The proper journalists at the Irish Times have obtained the accounts of the FAI and the facts, while many were known, still make for sad reading for anyone hoping for a revolution in Irish football.

The facts, as Ciaran Hancock reports, are as follows:

  • Delaney makes €400,000 per annum. We all knew this. This is twice the Taoiseach's salary.
  • Delaney actually took a 7.2% pay cut,. His previous salary was €431,687.
  • Overall, the FAI itself has cut wages by 13.5%
  • The FAI cut grants to clubs and leagues around Ireland by €377,000 last year.
  • The FAI's interest bill is now €4.8 million.
  • The FAI's debt on the AViva is €64.3million. Last year it was €67.2 million.
