As usually happens in the world of football, the man who John Delaney backs wins.

Gianni Infantino is the new FIFA president, elected on a second count ahead of Sheikh Salman. Infantino won a majority decision with 115 votes.

Infantino stood for UEFA in the absence of Michel Platini, who is suspended from football for 6 years, was understandably overjoyed:
