Joey Barton has taken an uncharacteristic break from concentrating on his playing career to vent his opinion about something on Twitter.
Barton took issue with Ferguson's claim that Steven Gerrard was "not a top, top player" and responded by saying that Gerrard was better than Fergie's favourite player, Roy Keane.
On a serious note. Gerrard for me, was better than Roy Keane. At one stage he was up there with the best midfielders in the World.

Lucky enough to have Played against them both on number of occasions. Steven Gerrard streets ahead IMO. Keane was v good but SG better...

Fine, all well and good, we're all entitled to our opinions. But as for this, Joey...
People forgetting Keane played with the best in the World at United. He wasn't same player with the Republic. Was he?

That's just talking out of your arse.
However you might feel about Keane now, to say he didn't do the business for Ireland is such absolute nonsense that we don't even need to remind Barton about Gerrard's performances for England.
Barton later clarified that he wasn't saying Keane wasn't 'world class'.
He was a World class leader. Winner. Competitor. No doubt about it. No doubt a World class player. Just that Gerrard was better. #keane #imo
