The first half of Liverpool vs Manchester United in the Europa League gave those watching the opportunity to get a look at two of England's biggest teams meeting in Europe for the first time, or if you're Joey Barton, a chance to watch a defender you've never had a good look at before.
Mamadou Sakho is an increasingly popular figure among Liverpool fans, but his style of defending could certainly not be described as conventional, and he can make for unusual viewing if it's your first time seeing him.
Thursday night appeared to be Barton's first time experiencing Sakho, and he sent out a series of tweets that perfectly sums up the Frenchman:
Mamadou Sakho is the most unorthodox, efficient, unbalanced, effective defender on the Planet.

Watching him is similar to viewing a clown spin plates. You are just waiting for them to smash on the floor. Yet, somehow he keeps it going.

Contradicts the laws of motion with every touch. The man is genius. A true one off... #sakho

Wonderful.
Of course, Sakho had very little to do in that first half so we'd love to see Joey's review of some of his best performances. Even Gary Lineker saw the light after those tweets:
@Joey7Barton couldn't agree more. First thoughts were that he was hopeless, but actually he might just be brilliant.

Judging by this, we think Barton's player reviews should become a regular occurrence during big games. So well put.
