Report: Joey Barton Wants To Bring Wes Hoolahan To Fleetwood

It's kind of odd that Wes Hoolahan is still without a club following his exit from Norwich City. Sure there's still time left in the window for Hoolahan to be snapped up with the Championship window running until the end of the month, but for a player who was so highly regarded in England's second tier, it's strange that some club hasn't taken a punt on the 36-year-old.

That may be about to change however, with a report by HITC stating that Joey Barton wants to bring the diminutive playmaker to League 1 Fleetwood.

According to the article sources close to the club say that Barton is weighing up a move for the free agent, who made 354 appearances for the Canaries, scoring 53 goals.

Fleetwood have made a promising start to League 1 this term, and currently lie in 6th position with seven points after four games.

It would be great to see Hoolahan in a higher division than League 1, or abroad perhaps, but there's a morbid curiosity in me that wants to see what the always controversial Joey Barton would do with Wes Hoolahan amongst his troops.

Barton took over at Fleetwood on June 2, after his 13-month Football Association ban ended, the 35-year-old was reprimanded for betting on 1,260 football matches or competitions from 2006 to 2016.
