After a prolonged silence on twitter following Rangers' hammering at the hands of Celtic last Saturday, Barton has resumed tweeting in the last few days. He will be avoiding his twitter notifications for the foreseeable future as Celtic fans have been winding him up relentlessly after the comments he made when he first arrived in Scotland.

And also for the training ground spat that saw Barton asked to stay clear of Rangers' training ground, as news of a row emerged today and looked very bad for the former Man City and Marseille man.

That is why Barton has now taken the action to post a statement made using the most popular official athlete statement tool of the modern age... The iPhone 'Notes' app.

Barton explained that a heated discussion about the Celtic loss resulted in him overstepping the line with his verbals, and he will resume training on Monday.

He will be back in training on Monday, a wise decision from manager Mark Warburton to let things cool down, it seems.
