Richard Dawkins' long reign as the spiritual and moral leader of atheism looks to be drawing to a close. Joey Barton, whose twitter feed is now the equivalent of one of those saloons in ancient Greece where Plato and Aristotle used to natter, has boldly staked his claim to become the leader of English atheism.
Barton, who appeared on Question Time last month (and generally did well, save for one large gaffe), has been tweeting furiously about the savagery in Israel for the past couple of weeks.

Also don't tell me I'm going somewhere none of you believers have ever been. Nobody you have every known has been and you have no proof of.

Just don't tell me what to do. And stop killing people who have a different belief system is all I'm saying. That too much to ask?

'If religious instruction were not allowed until the child had attained the age of reason, we would be living in a quite different world.'
