When Joey Barton went to play in Marseille it surprised a lot of people. In this video he meets Sunday Times journalist Jonathan Northcroft for in interview in the south of France but somehow it doesn't have the same cultured air of when Graeme Simmons talks to Jonny Wilkinson on a yacht in Toulon.  Barton exlains the attraction of playing abroad: "I get the chance to sample a foregin culture so when I come back to England people will be like F**king hell he has changed he's been to France." That isn't the only gem Barton offers, he also says Alan Pardew is the best English coach he has worked with. Although given his relationships with managers throughout his career you might want to take that with a pinch of salt.
