Joe Hart owned up for his mistake as Celtic lost 3-1 to Rb Leipzig in the Champions League.

At 1-1, the former England goalkeeper played a woeful pass that put the germen side back in front, a goal Celtic failed to comeback from.

It was a frustrating night for the Scottish champions, who were right in the game until Joe Hart’s mistake, and probably feel like they left something behind tonight.

Speaking after the game, Hart put full responsibly on himself for the second goal, but also shaded remarks at how Celtic play.

“I’m at fault for the second goal, no doubt about it, but that’s the way the manager wants us to play, so that’s the way we play.

"Sometimes it’s going to hurt us, but ultimately most of the time we got through the press and gave ourselves the opportunity to score goals.

"They were pressing with three and I wasn’t quite sure to go with the centre-half or Greg, and I decided to go with Greg and I missed.”

It's an interesting comment considering the reasons Pep Guardiola ushered Hart out of Man City many moons ago. Ball control and passing have never been strengths of Hart's game. Those deficiencies were badly found out tonight.

In an entertaining first half, Christopher Nkunku, who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, was dangerous throughout the game, with the Frenchman having a goal ruled out through the tightest of margins.

Celtic had chances of their own and felt they should have taken the lead when Kyogo Furuhashi was denied by the goalkeeper and the defence.

When Leipzig caught Celtic on the counter, Nkunku wasn’t going to be denied twice as he squeezed the ball in after going around Joe Hart.

The German side went into the interval ahead, but Celtic responded immediately in the second have to draw level through Jota, after some good hold up play from Kyogo.

Leipzig responded strongly and thought they went ahead through a brilliant strike from Dominik Szoboszlai, but after a lengthy VAR review, Hart’s view was deemed to have been interfered.

Moments later, Hart had a moment to forget as his pass went straight to Szoboszlai who put Andre Silva through to finish.

Silva added another with 13 minutes left as Celtic couldn’t mount a comeback and are still without a win in the Champions League.
