Joe Allen, as a former teammate of Luis Suarez, is no stranger to biting incidents on the football pitch, but he presumably never thought he would be the victim of such a fundamentally weird act.
Nonetheless, that is exactly what happened to Allen in the Championship tonight. Allen clashed with Derby's Bradley Johnson, to which the Derby player responded by appearing to take a bite out of his shoulder.
Somehow, in spite of the referee's excellent position, Johnson escaped censure. Watch it below.

In the end, Allen cleared up the incident; "It might look a certain way but he hasn't bit me."
Admitting that Johnson "might have got a little bit of the short," the Welsh midfielder said he wasn't over worried about it and doesn't "think it should go any further than that."
