Derry City won the EA Sports U19 Enda McGuill Cup final with a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Bohs at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium on Wednesday evening.
In winning the competition for the first time since 2007, Derry manager Gerald Boyle was aided by former Donegal All-Ireland winning manager Jim McGuinness, along with Shaun Holmes.
McGuinness has been involved with the Derry U19s since earlier this year. The 48-year-old previously managed in American with USL Championship side Charlotte Independence.
Derry technical director Paddy McCourt said during the summer that McGuinness asked to come on board as part of his UEFA Pro Licence course.
Wednesday's game finished scoreless after 90 minutes, sending the game to extra-time. 10 minutes into the first period, Bohs defender opened the scoring with a sensational long-rage strike.
WHAT A STRIKE!!! 🚀
Unbelievable hit from Bohemians' defender Sean Grehan who scores from well outside the box, he deserved a goal based on his performance! 🤯

It looked as though Grehan's goal would be enough to give Bohs the win until Derry were awarded a penalty with three minutes to play and Evan McLaughlin stepped up to equalise.
Michael Harris scored the winning penalty for Derry in the shootout.
What a game! 🤩
10-man Derry City have equalised from the penalty spot through Evan McLaughlin 👏

Full-time in the Enda McGuill Cup final and Derry City win 5-4 on penalties.
Commiserations to Craig Sexton's Bohs U19s who took a 1-0 lead in the 101st minute only to be pegged back after a terrible decision to award a penalty to Derry City.
