Whilst a lot of what Jesse Lingard gets up to on Instagram could be deemed questionable at best, you have to salute the Manchester United attacking midfielder for his latest viral posting.

The 26-year-old can usually be relied upon to give you a daily dose of cringe with the England international no stranger to a bit of singing and a few interesting hand signals on the platform.

The England international scored many craic points last night after posting a picture of himself on the ball during yesterday's 1-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League. With the trequartista taking on the Leicester defence, the foreground of the photo is dominated by a single pigeon nibbling at the Kingpower Stadium turf.

And Lingard was quick to link the image to an infamous incident in United's not too distant past.

'JLingz' used the caption to poke fun at teammate Ashley Young, who may or may not have been the victim of a direct hit from an unidentified flying object during United's 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea City in August 2014.

The winger-cum-full-back has since branded the video footage that purports to show the bird defecation landing plum in his gob as a fake but has not yet been able to shake the stigma attached to the embarrassing event.

Both players have been integral to the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer led turn around at Old Trafford in the New Year, and have featured in all-but-one of United's ten games under the Norwegian.

Solskjaer took his record to amazing nine wins in ten games, after picking up all three points against Claude Puel's side yesterday, moving the Red Devils to within touching distance of the Premier League's top four.

Young has yet to react to Lingard's social media bait, but it's something we could be laughing at for a while to come.
