Earlier we brought you a video of what appeared to be an adult woman stealing Jermaine Beckford's shirt from the hands of a child after the Preston North End player threw it to a group of kids following his match winning performance in the League One Playoff Final.
If you missed it, here it is:
The incident was caught by Sky Sports cameras and broadcast to everyone watching the match live, and while the commentator initially seemed to think it was the young lad's Mum, those who were tuned in thought different and took to social media to voice their displeasure at the woman's actions. Still, nobody was entirely sure what had happened, apart from those who were present.
It turns out that the boy's Aunt was present, and she has confirmed to Lancashire Evening Post that the woman did in fact strip the jersey away from 8 year old Ted Dockray and then tried to sell it on Gumtree.
Ted was clearly the last one to have his hands on that shirt.
He would have worn it even if it was all sweaty and smelly. It is the happiness it would have brought the child that matters.
Ted was in bits and went running to my dad.
So then it wasn't his Mum, it was someone he didn't know who waited for the kids, who Beckford clearly intended to receive the shirt, battle out a tug-of-war to determine a winner, before swooping in and ripping it out his hands?
Look at his face when he realises what is going on:
We hope that woman is happy with herself. That is absolutely disgraceful carry on.
Preston North End have today made a statement making clear their desire to cheer the boy up by offering a replacement:
If the young man makes himself known to the club, we'll get Jermaine to present his second Wembley shirt to him.
But really the damage has been done by this incredibly petty act. Who does that?!
