Despite Man Utd being understocked when it comes to striking options going into the Premier League season, it appears Javier Hernandez's services are not required at Old Trafford.
Last month, the Mexican was linked with a transfer to MLS by the Spanish media but that move did not materialise.
According to The Times, Hernandez could be heading south rather than west and also travelling a considerably shorter distance.
West Ham's interest in 27-year-old has been piqued once more after their attempts to sign Hernandez's fellow countryman Raul Jiménez on loan from Atletico Madrid ran into a work permit-shaped road block.
Louis van Gaal's team reportedly turned down an initial offer £8 million but West Ham have since come back with an increased bid.
The London Evening Standard have put a figure of £12 million out there for the second bid.
