Javier Hernandez is fondly remembered by Premier League fans. Chicharito, or 'The Little Pea' as John Giles calls him, scored 59 goals during his time with Manchester United, and was almost underverally popular, even among fans of other teams.

While he made a big impact in his early years at United under Alex Ferguson, he fell out of favour under David Moyes and later Louis van Gaal.

He spent two seasons with German side Bayer Leverkusen, which marked a return to form in the Bundesliga, and at 29, remains a enticing prospect.

Now, the Mexican is set for a return to the English top-flight after agreeing a deal with West Ham - and it's fair to say West Ham fans are absolutely delighted!

The club announced in a statement today that Hernandez had agreed personal terms and said that the former Real Madrid striker will fly to London "in the coming days".

Having already become Mexico's most capped player in Champions League games,  Chicharito also became the country's all-time leading goalscorer in May.

The move comes after West Ham ended their interest in Arsenal's Olivier Giroud.

It's been a busy summer for Slaven Bilic's side, who have already secured Manchester City's Joe Hart on a loan deal. Not content with just one of Pep Guardiola's castaways, Bilic also snapped up Pablo Zabaleta on a two-year deal.

West Ham finished the last season with a -17 goal difference and have been desperate to enlist a top-class striker since the departure of Dmitri Payet.

Currently on the books with West Ham are Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew - who managed just 14 goals altogether last season.
