Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 will go down as an important day in the history of Liverpool Football Club.
27 years after the Hillsborough disaster, the 96 who died on April 15th, 1989 finally received justice. The Hillsborough Inquest found that the victims had been unlawfully killed and that the behaviour of fans had no part to play in the tragic events.
In the days which followed the disaster, an edition of The Sun led with the front page titled 'The Truth'. It carried hugely damaging stories about Liverpool fans. Supporters have since grown to despise the paper.
This morning, Jason McAteer - a former Liverpool player - was getting ready to board a flight to Dublin from Manchester airport. He was angered that today of all days, free issues of the paper were being given away.
The Sun are twats for giving away free newspapers in Manchester airport this morning - you can quote me on that.
Earlier in the day, at the airport, McAteer had also expressed his indignation.
The @TheSun giving away free newspapers in Manchester airport. The place is littered with it. Disgrace at such a sensitive time

Whoever come up with that idea at @TheSun have a moment in your day to stop and remember https://t.co/xrIblC1RUk

McAteer believes that today's findings - announced after the longest inquest in British history - will finally allow those connected with the disaster to move on with their lives.
For everybody, closure is the massive word. I think everybody wants closure. It's been 27 years and at the end of the day, we all knew what happened on that day. It had to be cleared up and it took 27 years which is a disgrace. We finally got there and now it's coming out people can deal with it. A lot of people, a lot of the families have put a lot of effort into that and it's taken its toll. Now they can get on with their lives in the right way. It's taken far too long to get to this point. Closure and the truth, I think that's what people wanted.
It's a disgrace; it should never have happened but there are people who are accountable, that's why this inquiry happened.
