While it is still very early days, it looks as though the Premier League may have added two potential superstars during the summer in the form of Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez.

Signing for Manchester City and Liverpool for hefty fees respectively, both young strikers would wow on their debuts in the division. Haaland would score a brace against West Ham, while Nunez came off the bench to register a goal and an assist against Fulham.

The fortunes of both men will be tied moving forward, as it is likely that the two will be compared considering they arrived in the league during the same period to join its two strongest teams.

Most would say that Haaland is more of a guaranteed success, although not everyone would agree with that opinion.

Jason McAteer prefers Darwin Nunez to Erling Haaland

Speaking on beIN SPORTS, former Ireland midfielder Jason McAteer said he would not swap Darwin Nunez for Erling Haaland at Anfield. Andy Gray wasn't so sure, saying that while both were full of potential, the Norwegian is further along in his development and more of a sure thing at this stage.

McAteer: It's a tough one. I like Nunez's attitude, I think he has come to the club willing to learn. Haaland has got a bit of a strut about him, he feels he's the finished article and that's the confidence he has.

Strikers need that confidence in themselves. I think Nunez does have that. They're very similar, Nunez is very quick and quite an old fashioned centre forward.

They've both gone away from this 'false number nine', which is interesting. They've mixed it up a bit both teams.

Would I swap? No, no I wouldn't swap. I'm quite happy with our man.

Gray: I think Nunez has still go to prove it for me. He has massive potential.

McAteer: I think they've both got to prove it in the Premier League.

Gray: They've both got to prove it in the Premier League, but Haaland is further forward in his development than Nunez in his ability at the very highest level.

I might be wrong, but I don't think there's a doubt about Haaland. I think he will be a success whatever happens.

I don't know about Nunez. He could be one of the best, or he might not. The Premier League will find that out. I think Haaland is better equipped right now, although there's not a lot between them.

Erling Haaland certainly had a larger reputation prior to arriving in the Premier League, with Darwin Nunez relatively unknown to most football fans prior to last season.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the two fare moving forward.
