Leicester City's Jamie Vardy received a straight red card after a shocking high tackle on Wolves' Matt Doherty during the sides' Premier League tie at King Power Stadium.
Referee Mike Dean showed no hesitation in sending off the English striker. With his side 2-0 up and cruising, Vardy rushed into a rash challenge and followed through studs up on Doherty's knee.
Doherty was replaced by Morgan Gibbs-White shortly afterwards.
Speaking on BT Sport, former referee Phil Dowd declared it the correct decision.
Absolutely correct. Vardy, I just don't know what he is doing there. When I first saw it I put my hands up to my face. That was a poor, poor challenge.
"He's had a look at Doherty and he thought 'I'm not getting hurt in this one'..."
"He's lost his rag a little bit."
"That's like Gazza in the cup final."
