A second-half Jamie Vardy goal proved the difference today as Leicester City over an error-strewn Everton in their Premier League tie.
It caps a remarkable run of games for Claude Puel's outfit who have now beaten Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City in their last four games. For Marco Silva, it is a time of grave concern as the boos were audible on the final whistle.
Following his goal, Vardy broke out a Robbie Keane-like celebration as he somersaulted and tumbled his way to the corner flag.
“I’ve had it in the locker for a while, just waiting for a special occasion to bring it out; what better than New Year’s Day? New Year, new me.”

A visibly irritated Silva hinted at unrealistic expectations when speaking to Sky Sports post-match.
As a club, we didn’t say once we’ll be challenging for the top six. I don’t know why you are asking me about this situation, and it’s not lack of ambition because we have big ambition behind us as a club.
But we have to be honest and be fair with us as well and look at the other clubs for the budget they have as well.
They do have a winnable run of games oncoming, with Bournemouth, Southampton and Huddersfield next up.
