Meath man Jamie McGrath has signed for Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen on a free transfer, after being without a club since July.
The 26-year-old had moved to Wigan back in 2022 but only made a handful of appearances during his time there.
He was loaned out to Dundee United last season where he regained his form, before canceling his contract with Wigan.
However, with Dundee United relegated last season, a move was essential, and with Aberdeen finishing third in the league last season, it is yet another extremely positive transfer made by an Irishman this summer.
"I’m really delighted to get the deal done and I’m excited about the season ahead," said McGrath on the club's website.
The size of the club sells itself and the way the manager wants to play suits me so hopefully I can add something to the team.
It’s a really exciting challenge and I want to be part of something special here.

McGrath had previously lined out for St. Patrick's Athletic, Dundalk, and St. Mirren, before making the move to Wigan, and he made his senior Ireland debut back in 2021.
It was a successful first year at international level, winning six caps, but it has been slim pickings since then with only one appearance in 2022 and one in 2023.
The move to Aberdeen will certainly increase his chances of breaking back into Stephen Kenny's match day squads.
