Arsenal drew against Man City at the weekend away from home, which sounds like a pretty good result, but when you consider they were in the lead right up until the 98th minute before letting in a late equaliser, it was quite disappointing.

Arsenal were down to 10-men following Leandro Trossard's red card, and they spent the entire second half defending, not even managing to get a single shot as City attacked in waves.

This defensive, and negative style of play has been criticised by a lot of quarters, and Mikel Arteta has been accused by some pundits as preferring not to lose, rather than go out and win.

Speaking on the Overlap Fan Zone, Jamie Carragher and Paul Scholes were discussing Arsenal's defensive tactics and their methods to try and slow the game down to kill the clock.

Carragher compared Arteta to Mourinho by identifying one subtle tactic that Arsenal do more than others, that is quite clever, but could potentially be considered as "cheating".

When I mention the Mourinho thing, he was always ahead of the game in terms of trying to gain an advantage somewhere,” Carragher told The Overlap.

“There’s one thing I do notice Arsenal doing more than anyone. I don’t know if the stats back me up I think the goalkeeper goes down a lot more than other goalkeepers in tense situations.

“The rule is a goalkeeper can’t go off so that’s definitely one that the coaching staff at Arsenal are more switched on about that anyone else. I see Raya go down in pressure situations.”

Fellow pundit Paul Scholes responded: “Cheating that’s called isn’t it, Jamie?”

To which Liverpool legend Carragher said: “It is but you said it so you can have the headline not me,’ said Carragher in response.”

Arsenal managed to draw against Man City away and at home last season, and it proved to be too little in terms of clinching the title from them.

If they want to go one step further this season, they will be looking to get all three points at the Emirates later in the campaign.
