With a very public battle between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho being played out at the moment and people choosing which side to take, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has thrown in his two cents worth in the build up to Liverpool's Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea this evening.

The former Liverpool defender stated that there was a 'power-play' going on between the two and that Mourinho was well aware of the cameras present when the United manager scolded the midfielder at Carrington this morning.

Carragher sided with Mourinho in the overall scheme of things, arguing that the Portugese had done more in his two years at the club than Pogba, and that the Frenchman may not be worth the hassle for what he gives on the pitch.

The pundit came down hard on Pogba for his contribution to the club, and claimed that the 25-year-old would not be a good fit for Barcelona, with the La Liga side touted as having an interest in the player:

There's an idea that there's one or the other. So if Mourinho goes, you'll see a new Paul Pogba. You won't, I can assure Man Utd fans, you won't.

Nobody plays for two years and all of a sudden there's a change of manager and you're a new player. We've see what Paul Pogba is as a player.

He's not as good as he thinks he is. He's got talent, but his big problem is his understanding of the game. It's been a problem since he came, and it hasn't changed now.

There's talk of him moving on, leaving Man Utd. There's other clubs in the world who haven't got Paul Pogba who have been very successful. Barcelona being one.

I do think there is talent there, but talk of Barcelona? I can't think of a more ill-fitting player for Barcelona. Barcelona are all about discipline, staying in position, playing for the team. That is totally against everything Pogba plays for. Pogba plays for himself, does his own thing.

I still think he's good enough to be in Manchester United's team, but is he disciplined enough to do what Mourinho wants? I don't think he is.

Carragher finished by reiterating that should Mourinho get the sack it won't mean an upturn in form for Pogba and that while the World Cup winner may have the quality to be a Manchester United player, he may not have the discipline to work under Mourinho.
