Sky Sports has suspended Jamie Carragher after he was captured on video spitting at a man and his 14-year-old daughter in their car following Liverpool's defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.
"Jamie Carragher has been suspended from his duties as a football analyst for Sky after he was filmed spitting at a family in their car following Liverpool's defeat against Manchester United on Saturday," reads a tweet from Sky Sports. It was added that his behaviour was "well below the standards we expect of our people."
Carragher issued an apology on Sunday night and speaking to Sarah Hewson on Sky News on Monday afternoon called it a "moment of madness that's difficult to explain". He said that he had let down both Sky Sports and his family.
The former Liverpool player said that he called the family and that they were upset and disappointed.
