Manchester City and Liverpool shared the spoils after an exciting clash in the Premier League this afternoon, drawing 1-1 in their meeting at the Etihad Stadium.
While this was a meeting of the league's top two teams, it was not quite the vintage clash that these sides have served up in the past. It was a tense game at times, with goals from Erling Haaland and Trent Alexander-Arnold ensuring that they would finish on level terms.

The result was a fair one, with neither side doing quite enough to claim all three points.
However, some feel that Manchester City were rather unfortunate not to be given a second goal in the game.

Liverpool fans unhappy with Jamie Carragher take on Manchester City strike
Liverpool may have deserved their equaliser in the game, but they could well have found themselves 2-0 down before Alexander-Arnold's strike in the closing stages of the match.
Manchester City defender Ruben Dias had a goal ruled out in the 68th minute, with the officials adjudging that his teammate Manuel Akanji had fouled goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the buildup. VAR would agree with the decision.
While most would accept this was a foul, Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports after the game that his old team had been rather fortunate to get the decision.

For me, Liverpool and Alisson are extremely lucky. Very lucky.
If the referee doesn't give that, VAR aren't saying it was a foul, no way in the world. A goalkeeper of his quality, I mean it's hardly anything...
It's like a centre back and centre forward jumping for a header, that's all he's got. He hasn't got his hand...
If the referee hadn't blew his whistle there, it would be a goal and we would be arguing if it was a foul. But you still come back to it and think your goalkeeper has got to deal with that.
A surprising take.
The comments have not gone down particularly well with Liverpool supporters, many of whom feel Jamie Carragher has been very harsh on the club in recent times.
Wtf is going on with Sky, Neville and Carragher.
Something's complete off with the way the covering that Alisson incident. It's incomprehensible that anyone with a semblance of football knowledge would think thats an acceptable goal. I can't believe this is genuine commentary.— Biased (@14Biased) November 25, 2023
Carragher and Richards talking utter bollocks.
Straight forward foul on Alisson.— bonnieboo (@JosephWalsh9) November 25, 2023
Carragher showing far too many of his blue roots for me these days. Blatant foul on Alisson. Divi#MCILIV

Carragher once again talking shit, if a goalkeeper is mid air, you can’t touch him. That’s always the way it’s been. Honestly it does my head in!

Carragher & Richards, full of shite as per usual while Daniel quietly points out the obvious.

So glad we got a point.— Matt (@LegendEskimoBoy) November 25, 2023
Liverpool will be glad of a point at The Etihad, with this being the first occasion that Manchester City have failed to win a home game in all competitions in 2023.
It certainly adds an extra layer of intrigue to a potential title race between the two clubs in the months ahead.
