Roberto Martinez has roday been sacked by Everton in what must go down as one of the most inevitable sackings in recent memory.
The Everton players had made it perfectly clear that they were no longer going to perform for the Spaniard, typified by their hammering by Sunderland in Wednesday night's match which meant that Sam Allardyce's men officially retained their Premier League status, so the decision had to be made.
Now, focus will turn to who replaces Martinez as Everton manager, and the bookie's odds have thrown up some peculiar names.
Paddy Power are offering Rafa Benitez at 11/1 at the time of writing, while incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola can be backed at 200/1.
But one name on the list got people talking in particular:
Jamie Carragher, at 66/1.
Worth a punt? No. The Sky Sports' pundit has already ruled himself out in style:
If you do fancy a punt, Paddy Power's comprehensive choices are available here, but we wouldn't back Jamie.
It's just as well, poor Ed Chamberlain couldn't cope with losing Neville and Carragher to management in the same year.
