From an Irish perspective, there were quite a few positive takeaways from the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
The likes of Dara O'Shea, Nathan Collins, and Chiedozie Ogbene all made debuts for their respective new clubs, with the latter making his first appearance in the English top flight. John Egan and Josh Cullen also made their return to the top flight, captaining Sheffield United and Burnley respectively.
Of course, the most exciting incident for Ireland fans involved a certain young Brighton striker.
Evan Ferguson would start his season in an exciting fashion. Despite coming off the bench in Brighton's 4-1 win over Luton Town, the 18-year old would produce a brilliant performance and notch his first goal of the campaign.

It should be a big campaign ahead for the teenager, who scored ten goals in all competitions last season despite not coming into the side until the end of 2022.
Jamie Carragher full of praise for Ireland star Evan Ferguson
Evan Ferguson has received quite a bit of praise as a result of his performance at the weekend, with his talents being highlighted by the pundits on Match of the Day.
The adulation has not stopped there, with Jamie Carragher the latest big name to compliment the Irishman.
Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, the former Liverpool defender said that he expects Ferguson to become a top class player under the tutelage of Roberto De Zebri at Brighton.
Evan Ferguson is the centre forward. You talk about Brighton bringing players into the club, through the ranks, and selling them on for big money.
I'm sure he will be there for the next couple of years, but he looks the real deal every time I watch him. Don't forget, as a young player could you imagine the education he is getting from that manager?
He looks like a top manager doesn’t he? You see the way the team plays, not necessarily with the best players in the world. The football they play, he is a manager now where a lot of teams are studying the way Brighton play and trying to implement that into their game. He is still new to the Premier League himself.
I think that lad he has got up front, I think he's pretty special. He is only going to get better with him as his manager.
High praise indeed.
Evan Ferguson is at the perfect club to develop his talents and it will be expected that he will make a huge impact in the Premier League over the next couple of seasons.
Should that come to fruition, Brighton are sure to seek an astronomical transfer fee when the division's biggest clubs inevitably come knocking.
