It was a night to remember for Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday - but we're not sure how much of it Jamie Carragher will be able to recall.

The Liverpool legend is part of the well-loved CBS Sports Champions League coverage and was given a special task as Dortmund took on PSG in the semi-finals this week.

While the rest of the usual team of Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, and Micah Richards were joined by Alessandro del Piero in their London studio, Carragher was enlisted to immerse himself in the home support on the iconic Westfelenstadion Yellow Wall.

Also in the stadium on Wednesday night was Manchester United icon Peter Schmeichel - who jokingly reported back to the panel that a visibly drunk Carragher was "in the sin bin" at full-time.

Jamie Carragher enjoyed himself on Borussia Dortmund's Yellow Wall

The first clip to emerge from Jamie Carragher's Dortmund fan experience was a sign of things to come, as the CBS pundit kicked off his boozing nice and early in the evening. Things were to progress rather quickly.

When the CBS panel cut to Peter Schmeichel and Jamie Carragher after Borussia Dortmund's dramatic 1-0 victory over PSG in the Champions League semi-finals, there was one important question from Kate Abdo - "Jamie, are you sober enough to do this?"

The response was hilarious.

You know what, that's a good point because I haven't had too much to eat. I had a cheeseburger about 2:30 when I got to the hotel. It might explain why I might be slurring my words. I've had about eight pints on the Yellow Wall.

I've got a new family, a new family of friends, we all look after each other. I gave them a few bob after half-time.

Carragher was indeed mildly slurring his words, but was in outstanding spirits as the pair hauled Englishman Jadon Sancho in for a rather unusual interview in the press pen.

The winger had put in a star performance in Dortmund's crucial first-leg win - but Carragher was not interested in discussing anything other than the Yellow Wall with the 22-year-old. Sancho appeared taken aback by Carragher's total disinterest in the game which had just played out on the Westfalenstadion pitch.

With Dortmund now standing on the verge of a Champions League final, Carragher was quick to ask Sancho to join him for a few pints in London should they reach the Wembley decider - an offer politely declined by Sancho, who revealed he doesn't drink.

Peter Schmeichel could scarcely hide his laughter throughout the interview and was left explaining Carragher's sudden absence when the cameras returned to the press pen later in the evening:

In all seriousness, he's in the sin bin.

He has upset every person here. First of all, we were supposed to have Luis Enrique and he left because Jamie was wearing a Dortmund scarf. Then because we took Jadon Sancho in, the press officer from Dortmund got very, very cross with us because that was not on the list.

Carragher's entrance into the frame after Schmeichel's "sin bin" comment was an all-time football TV moment.

Carragher himself shared a clip of him and the Dortmund fans celebrating Niclas Fullkrug's ultimately decisive goal on the Yellow Wall.

Somewhere in Dortmund this morning, a very hungover Liverpudlian is waking up. Outstanding content.
