Jamie Carragher announced today that he's to retire from football at the end of the season. He's a player who's split opinion for as long as he's played. Liverpool fans clearly love his all-action braveheart leadership. Never a world class defender, he definitely made the most of is talents. Here's our pick of his best moments;
1) The Career Highlight
Nothing too surprising there. Carragher's part in Liverpool's improbable Champions League win in 2005 has been talked about a lot today. Suffering cramp, he threw himself into every tackle and block and played his part as Milan looked to get a late winner.

4) The Time He Called The Boys Off From Attacking Lucas Neill
Carragher had broken his leg following a tackle with Neill. The above is from his autobiography as reported by The Mirror. If you've read a funnier passage in a footballer's autobiography, please let us know!

He's scored a ton of own goals. Not an actual ton, that's ridiculous, but a lot of them. Cup finals, games against Man Utd. No game too big for a Jamie Carragher own goal.
5) His "Tackle" On Nani
Wonder has Nani plotted with his boys to attack Carragher?
6) Putting Sky's Andy Burton In His Place

He also quit the England team saying he didn't care about them, only to return and start in the World Cup. Oh, and he'll end up the Liverpool player with the 2nd most appearances. How's that for a career?
