Liverpool have had some incredible teams down through the years, making it very difficult for any current squad members to break into the elite when it comes to selecting the club's greatest every players.
Considering the dominance the Merseysiders experienced in the 70s and 80s, it can be difficult to look beyond that era. However, some are currently putting their hand up for selection in the club's best ever team.
Appearing on CBS Sports last night, Jamie Carragher was tasked with selecting the club's best ever XI. Unsurprisingly, players from that previously mentioned period of dominance made up the bulk of the side. Despite this, the pundit managed to find room for three members of Jurgen Klopp's squad in the side.
Jamie Carragher selects his all-time Liverpool XI
Trent-Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mo Salah were all included by Carragher, with Steven Gerrard the only other player to feature for the club in the 21st century to make the cut. The former defender resisted the urge to throw himself into the mix.

I have put two of the current back four in.
I've gone with Trent Alexander-Arnold, ahead of Phil Neal who won four European Cups. I've gone with that because I think the influence Trent has on this team is greater than Phil Neal (had on his team).
Alan Hansen, before Virgil van Dijk came along, was the greatest player centre back to ever play for Liverpool. He's alongside Virgil van Dijk...
Mo Salah has got to go in. He is a Liverpool legend for what he's done in this Jurgen Klopp team. He goes into a position where there was never a real standout for me on the right side of that attack.
You couldn't argue with those three selections.
Carragher also believed that Alisson Becker was unlucky to just miss out and that Andy Robertson could well be in this side by the end of his career at Anfield. Here is his team in full, with Bill Shankly as the manager:
GK: Ray Clemence
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold
CB: Alan Hansen
CB: Virgil van Dijk
LB: Steve Nicol
RM: Mo Salah
CM: Steven Gerrard
CM: Graeme Souness
LM: John Barnes
ST: Kenny Dalglish
ST: Ian Rush
When it came to selecting a captain, Carragher opted to go for Graeme Souness.
However, both himself and Thierry Henry believe that Steven Gerrard should be considered the greatest Liverpool player of all-time.
Carragher: Steven Gerrard is the greatest player ever to play for Liverpool, in my opinion.
This goal against Olympiacos just sums up, then we go on to win the European Cup. Without that goal, there is no Istanbul and no Steven Gerrard in a Liverpool shirt, because I'm convinced he would have moved on in that summer because we would have had no Champions League football.
Henry: I would say so (that Gerrard is Liverpool's best ever player). I have always been a fan of Stevie G, when he was on tune he was unstoppable.
Not a bad team.
