After a 30-year wait to lift the league title was elongated due to Covid-19, it's inevitable that passions would be running high as Liverpool's players finally got their hands on the trophy that evaded the club for so long.
Following the Reds' 5-3 win over Chelsea at Anfield, the moment finally arrived.
“Prepare for a party I don’t know when this bullshit virus is gone. Then we will have a party altogether. Make sure you are ready then! Thank you very much," said Jurgen Klopp before his players collected their medals.
For the majority of Liverpool's squad, this is their first time celebrating a league triumph in their careers, but not for James Milner.
The 34-year-old was the only player to have won the English title previously, having been crowned a Premier League champion twice before as a Man City player.
Due to the lack of fans in the stadium, some Liverpool players wanted to do their very best to make the supporters feel as close to the celebrations as possible.
For example, Gini Wijnaldum streamed the entire trophy presentation - from the walk down the tunnel, right up to the celebrations after the trophy lift - on his Instagram feed.
During the conversations on the podium, Wijnaldum asks Milner: “So you’ve had this three times?”
The former Aston Villa and Manchester City replied: “Yeah, they’re all different though, they’re all different. I’ve only ever got a blue ribbon. This is the first time I’ve ever wanted a red ribbon, it’s always been United before… fucking wankers.”
After the comment draws some nervous laughter from the Dutch midfielder, Wijnaldum then lets Milner know that he was filming for his social media page.
However, Milner and the other players don't seem that bothered, with the Dutchman then heard saying, ‘who cares?’
The celebrations can be seen below with the gentle rinsing of United taking place at the 12:50 mark.
Truth be told, we're certain that if the Premier League fortunes of both clubs were reversed, Manchester United players would be saying the exact same thing.
Also, if anything, Milner's remarks are a compliment for United's historical dominance of the Premier League title during that era.
Take a look.
