The House in the Wells and Foyle Valley Wells are two homes in Derry City which offer help to the homeless and those dependent on alcohol in the city.

Their coffers have been boosted this Christmas thanks to the efforts of two Derry born footballers - former Derry City striker Vincent Sweeney and James McClean

Sweeney works as a personal trainer in Derry and said that he decided to help the homeless in the city so as to make sure everyone got a Christmas dinner.

Yesterday, he left a post on Facebook thanking McClean for joining together with him in this funding drive.

Thanks to James McClean for joining together with me to make a donation to The House in the Wells and Foyle Valley House.

I wouldn't usually post about charity donations but I wanted to help raise some awareness. I hope that a few of you may also give what you can to this worthy cause. Christmas is such an important time to help others who are less fortunate than you - no one knows what’s around the corner.
