Earlier this week, we brought you the news that James McClean had paid the funeral expenses of a two-year-old boy who was tragically hit by a car in his home town of Derry City.

The Derry Daily are today reporting another marvellous local gesture made by McClean, as he has pledged £670 to help pay for treatment for young James McBride. James is 14 weeks old and has spent much of his young life in hospital. He was fitted with a tracheostomy tube to help him breathe a few weeks after he was born and has since suffered a number of serious health problems. James is set to fly to London later today to undergo major heart surgery; treatment made possibly by a crowdfunding page set up by family friend Garbhanb Boyle.

He set his target at £1,000, but as of yesterday, the fund had exceeded £2,000.

Of this total, £670 has been donated by McClean.

Garbhanb Boyle said that:

Wee James has been through so much already in his life, help us in making his life a little bit easier.

We have created this page as not everyone can attend the fundraiser.

All donations, no matter the amount will be greatly appreciated.

The wee mite’s parents are delighted with the donations.

Fingers crossed the operation is a success.
