In terms of cultural magnitude, we thought no one would be able to beat Jermaine's Pennant's incredibly succinct and well considered tweet in relation to Brexit. We were wrong. By quite some distance.

James McClean, as is his wont, has decided to have his say on the historic referendum from the Ireland training base in Versailles and well, see for yourself.

And it's probably best to see it here because less than 15 minutes after it went up, McClean's account was deleted.

'Reignition of the flames'. Incendiary might be one way to describe that kind of opinion. The entire world is sick to death of this GIF but in this instance, it really is appropriate.

We won't dare take a jump and step out onto the cultural minefield which a tweet like that will no doubt create but it is worth asking the question, two days ahead of the France game, does McClean really need to go about lighting the kind of controversy this is no doubt going to create?
